Happy New Year

happynewyear21.jpg

In this moment of reflection as the New Year approaches and the calendar starts a new, as we reach out to old friends and remember those who have gone before us, as the Winter Solstice has passed and the days are getting longer so to must we inevitably, persistently, lovingly change.

Change is the only constant I can see and so too must change come to those who spend a lifetime destroying our lands, our rights, our health, our economy, our education, our liberties, our loves by their stealing, lying and killing for themselves and their selves only and alone.

Smart Holiday Shopping

Smart Holiday Shopping

Parents are crowding into stores this holiday season, searching for toys that will prompt huge smiles, cheers and hugs from their kids. But parents also need to keep in mind that there are potentially dangerous toys on store shelves. They must use judgment and common sense with every purchase.

New federal laws passed in the wake of the massive toy recalls of 2007 are kicking in, which means the toys out for this year should be among the safest ever! When shopping, parents can improve their chances of picking a safe toy by paying attention to the warning labels on toy packaging.

Ways To Bond With Your Guy During The Holidays

daddy-and-chani-edited_resized-300x215.jpgWon’t be together on the 25th? Pick a day to have a “mini Christmas.” Make a delicious dinner, open a bottle of wine, and exchange gifts.

The intimate celebration will feel even more special than if you celebrated with a room full of people. Pull him aside at a party and make a private toast. Creating a quiet moment in the middle of a crowd can help you reconnect when you’ve both been making the rounds.

Stay connected in high-tech ways. Text random, funny pictures as you go about your days separately, Skype via iPhone, or, if you’re apart for multiple days, use your Xbox to stream Netflix and watch the same movie at the same time.

Drive around just to look at Christmas lights. Not only is it pretty, but guys tend to open up more when they don’t have to make eye contact. That makes sitting side by side in the car the perfect way to trigger a meaningful talk.

Want a Flat Tummy

ff2c6386121698239324075.jpeg

‘Want a flat tummy’ />

Walk/jog for 30 minutes at least 3 times per week to boost your metabolism in order to burn that fat. Eat a small handful of almonds (at least 6) every morning. Almonds are one of the healthiest snacks you can eat and the protein is good for burning fat.

Purchase a Pilates DVD and do the exercises at least 2-3 times per week. Add fiber to your diet and cut down your intake of the bad carbs. Foods such as white bread, pastas, potatoes, and white rice should be limited. Eat brown rice and whole wheat bread instead. To get that needed fiber increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables (especially the leafy green ones).

Drink skim milk instead of whole milk. Keep your dairy intake at a minimum because these products often cause bloating and gas. Perform proper crunches at least 3 times a week to train your abs. Avoid sit-ups because they really do very little to firm your stomach. Sit-ups work your hip flexors more than anything else.

Drink plenty of water. You should be drinking 6 to 8 glasses per day. Not only will it help fill you up so you eat less, but it aids in digestion. Stop eating within 3 hours of bedtime. If you have to munch on something, eat a small portion of vegetables or fruit.

Not eating late can make a huge difference. Eat smaller meals more often instead of 2-3 big meals per day to keep from having that bloated look and feeling. Eating more meals actually kicks up your metabolism.

Herbs & Spices That Warm You UP!

splitpeapotato-225x300.jpg

/>When that cold weather strikes a chilling blow, it makes sense to consume healthy, warming, concentrated foods. Dark orange vegetables such as sweet potatoes, winter squash, and carrots provide immune nourishing beta carotene and the warmth of the orange ray. Grounding roots such as onions, rutabagas

and turnips can help one better acclimate to the seasons. Other warming foods include arugula, mustard greens, and watercress. Nuts, seeds, and their butters make excellent warming and insulating snacks. There are many spices that can warm us up in a jiffy! Culinary herbs that help us feel warmer and improve circulation include:

# Black pepper- It has antiseptic, and antioxidant properties.
# Cardamom- It is an expectorant, thus helping to open the respiratory passages.
# Cayenne- It is rich in vitamin C, and helps relieve chills, coughs and congestion. Sprinkling a bit of cayenne pepper between one’s shoes and socks can help warm the feet when needing to be outdoors.
# Cinnamon- It helps dry dampness in the body and warms people that are always cold and suffering from poor circulation. Cinnamon is antiseptic and an excellent digestive tonic.

# Garlic- It helps one be more resistant to infection. Garlic is a potent vasodilator and improves circulation by helping to prevent the blood from clumping together.
# Ginger- It is a natural antioxidant and antiseptic. It improves circulation to all parts of the body. Ginger baths are warming, muscle relaxing and cold and flu relieving and can be made by simmering eight ounces of ginger into a half gallon of water, simmering at a low boil for twenty minutes, then straining into the bathtub.

# Horseradish-It is high in vitamin C, and aids in the digestion of fatty foods. Horseradish is antiseptic and a strong decongestant; helping to open congested respiratory passages.

How to Run Safely

run-safely-hot-weather-200x2002.jpg

With care, jogging and running can be safe and enjoyable. The main rules are familiar: Start slowly, build up gradually, alternate harder and easier work outs, and listen to your body. Here are a few additional tips:

1 - Wear good shoes. Buy shoes specifically designed for running, not walking. Change your shoes every 300 to 400 miles; even if they don’t look worn, they will have lost crucial cushioning and support.

2 - Don’t run on uneven or slanted surfaces. Find the most forgiving surfaces available; asphalt is softer than concrete, packed dirt or grass better still.

3 - Don’t increase your distance by more than 10% a week even if you feel terrific.

4 - Vary your pace.

5 - Always warm up with stretching exercises before you start out, then walk and jog before you run. Don’t try to sustain a rapid pace; instead, slow down and coast from time to time. And always slow down to a walk at the end of your run.

6 - Be careful on hills. Going up hills requires lots of extra effort; expect to slow down and lean into the hill. Don’t try to sprint down; to avoid injury, shorten your stride and hold back. Remember the old runner’s motto: Uphills train, downhills maim.

7 - Unless you are entered in a race, don’t race. And even in a race, remember there is always someone faster (also smarter, richer, thinner, and better looking; that’s life). Know your limits and stay within them to avoid injury. As usual, Shakespeare got it right, “Too swift arrive as tardy as too slow” (Romeo and Juliet).

8 - Follow simple rules for safety, hydration and weather.

9 - Do extra stretching for the muscles and tendons of your legs, especially your hamstrings, calves, and the others at the back of your legs. Running makes these muscles strong, but also tight.

10 - Don’t run through pain.

Even with precautions, many runners develop ammation, strains and sprains that produce aches and pains in tendons, muscles or ligaments. Most are mild will resolve with time and treatment. But the sooner you take care of running woes, the sooner you’ll be back on the road, which helps your heart and metabolism without harming your joints.

How to Run

female-runner2.jpg

1. Wear spandex shorts under your regular running shorts so you don’t chafe “down there.”

2. Cotton socks will only lead to blisters; invest in socks designed for running.

3. Ladies, do not skimp on a bra. Even if it costs more than your shoes it’s still a bargain.

4. Buy running clothes you look good in and that will motivate you to run.

5. Buy new running clothes at the end of the season when stores dump the old season’s line. Think clearance!

6. Use Vaseline or BodyGlide wherever things rub and your TOES!!! They will help prevent blisters and chafing (guys don’t forget the nipples).
7. Do not increase your mileage more than 10 percent per week.

8. Guys: Band-Aids before the long runs. Your nipples will thank you in the shower afterwards.

9. Do not run two hard days back-to-back.

10. Ice aches and pains immediately.

11. Pay attention to your form. Try to run lightly to minimize impact that could lead to injury.

12. Cut your Training by at least 30 percent to 50 percent every 4th or 5th week for recovery.

13. Make sure you cut your toenails short enough so they don’t jam into your Shoes!

Winter Veggies

Winter Veggies

It’s easy to get stuck in a cooking and using the same ingredients and the same recipes again and again. It’s time for a little change! If you shop at your local farmers’ market, you have a great opportunity to try something new.

Most people think farmer’s markets are only for summer, but there are many that are open year round and offer great winter produce. Buy some fresh, seasonal produce and discover delicious new flavors.

Here, our some picks for wonderful winter vegetables, complete with recipes you can make tonight. Winter squash comes in many shapes and sizes, including acorn, butternut, and spaghetti. This type of squash has a thicker rind than summer squash, which makes them easier to store for longer periods of time. Store them in a cool, dry place, but not in the fridge because this can cause them to rot more quickly. Squash is delicious roasted on its own, but these recipes offer new ways to use this versatile veggie.-

Make Your Arms Look Sexy and Toned!

298x232-tone_your_arms-298x232_tone_your_arms.jpg

Once you embrace the thought that strengthening your arm muscles will make them look toned and sexy rather than chunky and unfeminine, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to get results.

Arms are one of those body parts that respond quickly to training because they’re typically under-worked in everyday life compared to say, your legs. Do this arm routine 2 to 3 times a week with at least one day of rest in between. All you’ll need is an exercise band or tube that creates enough resistance, or force, to challenge you within 8 to 15 reps plus a sturdy chair so you can do this routine anywhere.

Start with one set of 8 to 15 reps of each exercise; when you can do 15 reps easily, either switch to a heavier band, up it to two sets per exercise or graduate to the more challenging version of the move. When you’re ready to try something new, consider switching to dumbbells. The same movements feel completely different when you’re pumping iron versus pumping rubber.

How Caffeine Affects Sleep Cycle

How Caffeine Affects sleep cycle

Coffee is most everyone’s number one choice for a pick-up-me. Have to work late? Coffee. Couldn’t get a full night’s sleep? Coffee. Need a jolt of energy to stay focused and alert? Coffee. Falling asleep in class coffee.

You can count on coffee, or really anything with caffeine in it. But watch out if you’re among those who work at night and sleep during the day: there’s new evidence that coffee can really tie a knot in your attempts to get some sleep when you need it most.

According to a recent study led by a Canadian researcher in Montreal, caffeine interferes with sleep and this effect worsens with age. For shift workers, who need to sleep during the day, caffeine can really antagonize sleep.

Avoid caffeine within eight hours, of your bedtime. If that’s possible. Watch out for caffeine lurking in other products, like headache medicine, chocolate, and energy drinks. Think about going a little lighter on the caffeine if you’re older than 40. At appears that the older you are, the more caffeine will interrupt your sleep.

Speed Up That Metabolism

1990_npadvhover.jpgHave you ever wonder how to get a metabolism boost by doing nothing. Imagine if you were to stop listening to your stomach serenading you and actually begin exercising, too? The blubber busting possibilities are endless. So grab a fork, it’s time to add some fuel to that fire baby!!!

Here are some foods that help:

*Green Tea, Coffee: Caffeine helps speed up your heart rate. The faster your heart beats, the more calories you burn.

*Milk, Whole Grain Cereal, Oats: Complex carbohydrates and fiber pump up metabolism by keeping insulin levels low after you eat.

*Jalapenos, Habaneros, Cayennes: Speeds up heart rate. A single spicy meal can boost your metabolism by up to 25 percent, with the spike in calorie burning lasting for up to 3 hours after you finish eating.

How Students Set Goals on College

299520-main_full.jpg

1. Answer the question, “Why am I going to college?”
Many college students really don’t have a clear reason for being there other than the fact that they don’t know what else to do yet. They inherit goals from family and peers which aren’t truly their own.

2. Imagine your ideal college experience.
Once you know why you’re going to college, imagine your ideal outcome. Let it flow outward from the reason you’re there. Whether you’ve already started college or not, stop and simply write down some attributes of your ideal experience. Describe it in as much detail as you can.

3. Set clear goals for each class.
Decide what you want out of each specific class. Is this a subject you’re eager to learn?
Do you want to target this teacher for a letter of recommendation? Is this a required class you must take but which doesn’t otherwise interest you?

4. Learn material the very first time it’s presented.
One of the biggest time wasters in school is having to relearn something you didn’t learn properly the first time. When students say they’re studying, most of the time they’re making up for a previous failure to learn the material.
If you don’t understand something you were taught in class today, treat it as a bug that must be fixed ASAP!!! Do not put it off. Do not pile new material on top of it. If you don’t understand a word, a concept, or a lesson, then drop everything and do whatever it takes to learn it before you continue on.

5. Master advanced memory techniques.
One of the keys to learning material the first time it’s taught is to train yourself in advanced memory techniques. I used them often in classes that required rote memorization of certain facts, including names, dates, and mathematical formulas. If a teacher wrote something on the board that had to be memorized verbatim for an upcoming exam, I’d memorize it then and there. Then you wouldn’t have to go back and study it later. These techniques will allow you to memorize information very rapidly. For example, memorizing a list of 20 items in about 90 seconds with perfect recall even weeks later. Experts at this are faster. Anyone can do it, it’s just a matter of training yourself!

How to Better Sleep

sleep1.jpgGo to bed and get up at about the same time every day, even on the weekends. Sticking to a schedule helps reinforce your body’s sleep cycle and can help you fall asleep more easily at night.
Don’t eat or drink large amounts before bedtime.

Eat a light dinner at least two hours before sleeping.
Also, limit how much you drink before bed. Too much liquid
can cause you to wake up repeatedly during the night for
trips to the toilet.

Avoid nicotine, caffeine and alcohol in the evening.
These are stimulants that can keep you awake.
Avoid caffeine for eight hours before your planned bedtime.
Your body doesn’t store caffeine, but it takes
many hours to eliminate the stimulant and its effects.

Exercise regularly. Regular physical activity, especially aerobic
exercise, can help you fall asleep faster and
make your sleep more restful. However, for some people, exercising
right before bed may make getting to sleep more difficult.

Go to bed when you’re tired and turn out the lights.
If you don’t fall asleep within 15 to 20 minutes, get up
and do something else. Go back to bed when you’re tired.
Don’t agonize over falling asleep. The stress will only prevent sleep.

Tips For Smart Holiday Spending

Tips For Smart Holiday SpendingAs the holidays come closer and closer, you may be starting to get nervous. Perhaps you are thinking back to last year at this time when you started your shopping and were having a great time buying things for everyone on your list. Then you flash to January of this year. The credit card bills arrived and you spent months trying to pay off all the spending you did.

Instead of letting things happen that way again, you need to have a better plan to be able to spend smart this holiday season.

Budget

Start with a holiday budget. You need to set a reasonable amount that you will be able to spend to get everything you want or need without letting the spending get out of hand. Make a list of all the people you need to buy gifts for, the parties you will be buying food for, or the festive events you want to attend, and how much they will cost. Keep this budget nearby and always refer to it before you think of making a purchase so you only buy what you need

Devise a Shopping Plan

The best way to do your Christmas shopping in budget is to learn how to get more for your money. One great way to do this is with shopping rewards credit cards. Shopping rewards credit cards are cards that literally reward you for shopping. They may be issued by a particular store, catalog or mall. As you spend on your shopping rewards credit cards you rack up points that can often be used for discounts or even gift certificates to the store, so you can get more for your money.

Don’t Wait

Procrastination is your enemy. The longer you wait to get things done, the more you will become frantic as the holidays get closer. Being in a panic while shopping is a sure recipe to spend a lot more than you should because you start purchasing things that are not on your list in your frenzy.

Create a Payoff Plan

As you start your shopping this season, you should also start your strategy for paying it off. Ultimately, you should not spend more than you can pay off in one or two months, or you will be working against yourself as interest is tacked on to the money you owe. You may want to start saving up before the holidays and then use that money to pay off your cards after you have done all your shopping, while still getting any rewards your cards offer.

How to Become a Model

brunatenorio1.jpg
To be a model is glamorous, sexy and easy to be, that’s all people think. However, not everything is as easy as people think. The life is filled up with stitchs and not only flowers. It’s an extremely competitive business that will more likely break you than make you a model. Here are some truths and miths about becoming a model.

1. Be professional. Be polite and always turn up on time to any appointment or shoot. If you’re late or rude, word soon gets around and then nobody will want to work with you.

* Be organized! Models often get called off places at the last minute and have very busy days. You need to be on top of things if you want to succeed. Buying a day-to-day planner can really help.

*Confirm whether or not there will be a make-up artist on site for any work you are doing. 99 times out of 100 there will be one, but there may be the odd occasion where you are required to do your own make-up. If there is a make-up artist, then arrive fresh faced.

* Be truthful about your measurements. Don’t say you’re skinnier than you are just to get a shoot. Once there, the stylist will have problems and you will get found out. Word will get around and you could find yourself without a career!

* Treat modeling like a real job. Girls that don’t take it seriously have small chances of succeeding in their modeling career. Realize that it is harder than it appears and there’s a lot of work behind all that glitz and glamour at fashion shows.

2. Look up the number of a reputable modeling agency. You can find these in your area phone book or by running a search on the Internet. Make an appointment.

3.Be prepared. When you attend your appointment, they might ask you to pull certain faces like laughing, happy, sad, or seductive. Practice in front of a mirror beforehand. It may help to look at pictures of models in magazines to get an idea. Be ready to have a Polaroid close up of your face taken. You really only get one chance for this photo. They’ll use this to compare to your head shot. They will ask you to walk and take your measurements, so be prepared for all of that as well. Learn to accept rejection or criticism politely (see Warnings below). Thank the people for their time.

4. Get some photos done. These don’t have to be professional but they should be created for the purpose of showing your ability as a model. Although agencies say they are happy with snapshots, that doesn’t mean they want to see an out of focus shot of you out partying with your friends with a little note attached saying that you’re the one on the right! As a bare minimum, you will need one head shot and one body shot.

* Get your favorites and take the photos to be printed into 8×10s. Save these in case you are asked to leave a photograph anywhere before you have professional ones done. Don’t force these on people or try to hand them out. You’ll be better off waiting for the professional shots instead of taking risks with an amateur photo.
* Consider getting the photos professionally done. Professional photography, even if it is expensive, will give you a better idea of what kind of look you project. You will eventually need these photographs to snag an interview, so think of it as a worthwhile investment!

5. Decide what kind of model you’d like to be. Technically, anybody can be a model. However, do remember that if you don’t meet certain requirements, the work available to you will be incredibly limited, and you may have to compensate in other departments (reliability, technique, etc).

* If your body is full and curvaceous, you may be able to be a plus size model.
If you’re tall (at the very least 5′7 for editorial & 5′8 for catwalk.) and very skinny but with a small breast size, you can be a catwalk model.
* If you have large breasts but not very wide hips, you can be an underwear model.

* If you don’t fit any of the face or body descriptions, perhaps you can be a foot, hair or hand model.

* Consider your “look”. There is more of a curvy California look, a svelte New York look, a waif-like European look, girl next door, swim suit or lingerie (usually requires the bust to fill out the suits and a very thin waist)…Know what you’re equipped with, but also work to pull off other looks.

How to Become a Vampire

vampire1.gifOur minds are filled up with fantasies heard by our ancestors and past through generations. Hollywood movies feed us up with all kinds of vampirical stories.

According to stories and books, vampires were created by a Romenian man who wrote a book and spread the legend through the world.

However, in our modern times there are some people who are considered vampires due to their actions. Those ones who do not do their tasks at their jobs and stay waiting for the co-workers do them are considered vampires, better blood suckers. Those ones are not well succeeded in their jobs and often lose their jobs for laziness and lack of skills. Do you consider yourself a vampire?

Adam Lamberts Performance

Adam Lamberts Performance

Adam is blowing up twitter headlines! “I’m about to turn up the heat”, Adam said before his performance, and he sure did! Viewers at home felt it was a sexually provocative performance and he drew THOUSANDS of complaints to ABC.

Dancers in leather harnesses and jackboots dancing all over the stage. A moment of simulated pelvis thrusting. Fondling a female dancer’s nether regions and made out with his male keyboardist! His goal, he said, was “not to piss people off.

It was to promote freedom of expression and artistic freedom.” Well Adam, don’t you think that was too much for a first performance?

How to End Pms Misery

How to End Pms Misery

Do you ever feel beastly when you’re pre-period?
The bloating, the aching, & the paiiinnnnn!
Lets Pinpoint your symptoms, then follow our advice for fast relief.

Snack wisely: The same hormones that cause premenstrual cramping can also cause your intestinal walls to contract, resulting in diarrhea. Reach for foods rich in soluble fiber, such as cooked vegetables, bananas and oatmeal, to add bulk to your stool. Fiber also helps keep you full, which can help blunt pre-period food cravings.

Get wet: Avoidding sodium drenched foods isn’t enough to wring you dry during the week before your period, try a 20 minute swim to ease the bloating. The pressure of the water causes extra fluid to move back into the blood stream, which helps cut down on swelling. No pool? Soaking in the tub for the same amount of time can have a similar effect!

Pass on salt-laden foods: Your body stores sodium so that if the released egg gets fertilized. To avoid puffing up, nix sodium packed processed foods a few days before you normally start to hold water.

Airport Survival Guide

Because big crowds and long security waits are out of your control, it’s important to take advantage of every time-saving, hassle-avoiding technique at your disposal.

The day before you fly, check in online, print boarding passes, and pay for checked luggage at your home or office. Airport parking lots are expensive and often full during holiday periods, so park off-airport (find options at airportparkingreservations.com). Ship gifts ahead instead of dragging them on the plane; if you’re organized and can send them a week in advance, it’s probably cheaper than flying with them anyway, depending on airline fees and what you’re shipping. If you are bringing gifts on the flight, don’t wrap them—you may have to tear off the paper at security.

Know the TSA’s rules concerning liquids, carry-ons, and prohibited items (study up at www.tsa.gov/travelers), and wear loafers or other shoes that can be slipped on and off easily. (But do wear socks! You really don’t want to pick up a fungus and spend the holidays scratching your feet maniacally.) Also, throw a few extra quart-size zip-top plastic baggies into your carry-on, just in case someone in line forgot theirs. ‘Tis the season for giving, after all.airport-security-main_full.jpg

German Christmasmarket

golden-christmas-ball1.jpgHere are a few tips about traveling to see the Christmas markets in Germany in December. I recommend anyone going to see them.

1) The big-city markets are almost exactly the same, and the medium-sized markets are trying to be and look like their larger cousins. The only difference between Wurtzburg and Nurnberg’s markets was that Nurnberg has the Christkind. Pick one large market when you want to see the biggest and best.

2) The larger markets have about 15 different kinds of booths that repeat themselves over and over, kind of like a state fair. Know this going into it.

3) The smaller markets offer the most variety, but they are typically only open for one or two days. Each market has its own flavor on the Christmas market. I recommend the market in Dinkelsbuhl. It’s half Christmas market and half Renaissance Festival.

4) The smaller markets are not typically open during the week. Plan on being very bored in those smaller towns at noon on a Monday. But the silver lining is that you get the entire town to yourself!

5) Each town, no matter the size, has its own Gluewhein mug. You pay a small deposit when you get your drink. You can get the deposit back if you return your mug. But the mugs make a fantastic and inexpensive souvenir. The deposits are typically 1 or 2 Euros.

1.Just use your dryer’s nozzle. It’s the best way to help prevent frizz because it concentrates the airflow on sections. Without a nozzle the dryer’s grill gets very hot. If your hair gets too close to it, it will cause damage and/or breakage.

2.Steer clear of plastic-bristle brushes.A combination of natural boar bristles on either a round or flat brush are best for dry hair, while soft, rubber-toothed wide-paneled brushes are best for damp hair.

3.Brush before shampooing. A few gentle strokes on dry hair will help remove product buildup and scalp flakes.

4.Say goodbye to SPLIT ENDS! Get regular trims, at least 1/2 inch every four to eight weeks. Hair grows on average, half an inch per month, so trim to maintain healthy ends.

5.Deep condition once every two weeks. These treatments penetrate the hair shaft and strengthen strands. Put on a shower cap and go under a hot dryer. Using heat can intensify deep conditioning, as the heat causes the cuticle to open and the ingredients to penetrate. If you don’t have a dryer (like those in the salon use a blow dryer).

What Does Twitter Mean?

twitter.gifTwitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author’s profile page and delivered to the author’s subscribers who are known as followers. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access. Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications. While the service itself costs nothing to use, accessing it through SMS may incur phone service provider fees.

The 140 character limit on message length was initially set for compatibility with SMS messaging, and has brought to the web the kind of shorthand notation and slang commonly used in SMS messages. The 140 character limit has also spurred the usage of URL shortening services such as tinyurl, bit.ly and tr.im, and content hosting services, such as Twitpic and NotePub to accommodate multimedia content and text longer than 140 characters.

Since its creation in 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Twitter has gained notability and popularity worldwide. It is sometimes described as the “SMS of the Internet”[3] since the use of Twitter’s application programming interface for sending and receiving short text messages by other applications often eclipses the direct use of Twitter.

How to Find Your Computer Ip Address

How to Find Your Computer Ip Address

It’s quite simple to find out your computer IP address at the C prompt. Select “Start,” then “Run” and enter “cmd” in the text field.

The C prompt will appear on a black screen. Type “ipconfig” at the C prompt, and hit the “Enter” key. Several lines of information will appear. The IP Address will show as a series of numbers divided by decimals. This identifies your computer on a network. The second line is the Subnet Mask and identifies the particular subnet, or shared part of the network, your computer is accessing. The third line is the Default Gateway, which allows the computer access to the Internet via a network node.

What is IP Address

ip_address.jpgThe IP address is a series of protocols, or communication methods, that computers use to “talk” to each other across a network.

Every computer connected to the public Internet is assigned a unique number known as an Internet Protocol (IP) address. IP addresses are made of four numbers separated by periods (also called a ‘dotted-quad’) and look something like 127.168.0.1.

These numbers are usually assigned to internet service providers within region-based blocks, an IP address can often be used to identify the region or country from which a computer is connecting to the Internet. An IP address can sometimes be used to show the user’s general location.

Because the numbers may be tedious to deal with, an IP address may also be assigned to a Host name, which is sometimes easier to remember. Hostnames may be looked up to find IP addresses, and vice-versa. At one time ISPs issued one IP address to each user. These are called static IP addresses.

Because there is a limited number of IP addresses and with increased usage of the internet ISPs now issue IP addresses in a dynamic fashion out of a pool of IP addresses (Using DHCP). These are referred to as dynamic IP addresses. This also limits the ability of the user to host websites, mail servers, ftp servers, etc. In addition to users connecting to the internet, with virtual hosting, a single machine can act like multiple machines (with multiple domain names and IP addresses).

The whole number result is placed at the top. Any remainders are ignored at this point.

25 × 0 = 0 The answer from the first operation is multiplied by the divisor. The result is placed under the number divided into.

4 – 0 = 4 Now we take away the bottom number from the top number.
Bring down the next number of the dividend.

43 ÷ 25 = 1 remainder 18 Divide this number by the divisor.
The whole number result is placed at the top. Any remainders are ignored at this point.

25 × 1 = 25 The answer from the above operation is multiplied by the divisor. The result is placed under the last number divided into.

43 – 25 = 18 Now we take away the bottom number from the top number.
Bring down the next number of the dividend.

185 ÷ 25 = 7 remainder 10 Divide this number by the divisor.
The whole number result is placed at the top. Any remainders are ignored at this point.

25 × 7 = 175 The answer from the above operation is multiplied by the divisor. The result is placed under the number divided into.

185 – 175 = 10 Now we take away the bottom number from the top number.

How to Get Rid of Fruit Flies

How to Get Rid of Fruit Flies

Take out the food source and breeding areas. Fruit flies have a life-cycle of 10 days, giving them abundance of time to punish you for leaving moist, fermenting, organic material in which they may lay eggs. Most fly shut in ideas only serve to illustrate the flies’ progress in taking over your home, and some will themselves provide a breeding land. Sanitation is the only effective resolution. Address these frequent problem spots:

* Wash all dishes. Clear the drains.

* Launder the dishrags, or at least wash them thoroughly with soap, rinse them well and wring them dry before hanging them up (don’t
leave them in the sink).

* Store trash in a covered bin.

* Do not toss food garbage into waste-paper baskets.

* Cover your fruit bowl or store fruit you wish to keep in the refrigerator. Also, raisins, dates and prunes are favorite attractants.

* Discard all overripe fruit.

* Clean opened containers of fruit juice, fermented or vinegar products, for example ketchup, siracha or cooking wine. Seal them well.
Keep these in the refrigerator if possible.

* Wipe up crumbs and spills from your cabinets, counter and floor.

* Take out all trash–do not re-use the plastic liner garbage bags.

* Clean the seals of your refrigerator door, the top and under the fridge, especially clean the evaporation pan if it has one.

* Clean under and around your dishwasher and stove.

* Dump mop water, clean the pail, launder the mop rag.

How to create a Website

webdesignandmultimedia-photo-1.jpg* Begin with simple things, practice them and then advance, even if what you create is not very impressive at the time; do not attempt to
rush through the tutorials in one. You need to understand them very well, so take your time and test things out. If you wonder whether or
not something will work, don’t suppress the urge, but find out.

* People are often in a hurry. This means that you may only have between 10 and 30 seconds to capture your visitor’s attention. To minimize
your load time, keep graphics small. Compress them where possible. Use flashy technology JavaScript, Flash, Streaming Audio/Video, etc.
sparingly and only if it is important to your presentation.

* If you intend to sell a product on your website, you will need to be able to accept secure credit card payments. You can apply for a
merchant account, which charges a per-transaction fee, or use a free payment service like PayPal.

* Before beginning to read a tutorial, make sure it is the best of the best; you do not want to find half way through that the tutorial’s flawed
or putting you to sleep. You do not want to have to read the same content over again in a good tutorial, do you? So look into lots of search
engine results before picking your tutorial!

* Find popular websites, even if they do not have much to do with yours, and use them as models. What are they doing right? Incorporate
what you learn from the big shots into your own website. Don’t be a copycat, but don’t re-invent the wheel.

* If you hire a professional to code a complicated site, remember that programmers are not all graphic designers. The most eye-catching
sites out there have been made by or with the input of someone involved in graphic design. Programmer also does not usually know much
about search engine optimization and getting your website to the top of Google. Try to find someone who does know that or you can learn
on your own too.

* Create a REAL website. A lame boring website would not do any good! Make it want to attract the people that will bring traffic to your
website.

cruise vacation alternative

cruise-ship.jpg

something where you’ll get to see a lot of sites for not a lot of cash. How about a slow boat to China? (Or Brazil or Europe or Australia…)

A number of cargo ship companies make their freighters available for a limited number of guests traveling to a number of exotic destinations, sometimes for less money than a conventional cruise. And don’t worry, you won’t have to swab the decks.

Many ships that take on passengers are more equipped than one would think. You’ll have you’re own room and generally some other perks including TV and movies, reading and exercise rooms. And often with less than 10 passengers, you’ll likely get very personal attention including sharing meals with the ship’s crew and personal tours of the “guts” of a working freighter. Heck, some even have a pool.

There’s also the enjoyment of peace and quiet on the high seas lounging on the deck all day with no real planned activities other than meals. Though, you’ll have to share that deck with massive cargo containers that sometimes make for a less-than-majestic view.

Pomegranate Super Health

pomegranate-juice.jpg
This fruit packs a punch when it comes to stellar health and preventing hearing loss. “We’ve heard the warnings about keeping blood pressure in check for cardiovascular health but high blood pressure also puts you at risk for degenerative eye diseases and decreased cognitive abilities,” says Dr. Pratt.

In fact, pomegranates are known as phytochemical powerhouses since they have two to three times the antioxidant power of green tea or red wine.

Plus, they possess anti-inflammatory chemicals. “This is one reason why they have been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer. It also appears that pomegranate juice might be helpful in preventing certain types of hearing loss.” His advice? Drink one half to one cup of 100 percent pomegranate juice five to seven days per week.

Physical Activity for Older

intro1.jpgHas been increased research and clinical attention given to the effects that physical activity has on quality of life among older adults, there is a lack of consistency surrounding the use of this term. As a result, attempts to examine what causes change in quality of life have been limited.

This article critically reviews activity and quality of life in older adults. In so doing, attention is given to both quality of life as a psychological construct represented by life satisfaction as well as a clinical and geriatric outcome represented by the core dimensions of health status or health-related quality of life.

The literature is also examined to identify potential mediators and moderators in the physical activity and quality-of-life. the family Discussion of possible mediating variables reinforces the important role of perception when considering the beneficial effects that physical activity has on quality of life.

Tips For growing your Hair

lauren-2t.jpg The only way to really change the health of your hair is by taking supplements that work internally on the follicle where hair is made.

Any shampoos or oils or other topically applied things do nothing to change hair's structure, that can only happen with systemically provided support, which means supplements that you take internally...

Keep in mind, regardless of how many or how much you take of any supplement, hair is never going to grow at a "Jack and the beanstalk" type of rate, the most you can hope for is to improve the strength and health of each hair follicle and to see an incremental increase in the rate of its growth.

TIPS FOR YOUR HAIR

1. Eat a healthy diet. Avoid foods that are high in sugar or fat.

2 . Treat your hair like a piece of fine old lace. Treat it carefully avoiding any unnecessary brushing, combing or handling.

3 Avoid use of hot water, hot blow dryers or other hair care tools that may stress the hair.

4 Have a weekly scalp massage to provide stimulation to the hair follicles.

5. Do a series of ongoing hot oil treatments to protect the hair's shaft.

6. Have regular trims to eliminate split ends and allow the hair to look and feel healthier.

6 . Get plenty of rest and sleep to allow your body to grow hair.
